KUALA LUMPUR: National athletics coach, Mohd Poad Md Kassim who is now warded in Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HAS) in Johor Bahru has started showing some positive developments.

Poad has started to respond though it has been informed that he is still in critical condition.

“Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah S.W.T. there are positive developments thankfully. Poad has opened his eyes and given responses when we speak to him but he is still in critical condition.

“We hope that all fellow Malaysians continue to pray for him and may he be able to recover as soon as possible,” said Muhamad Rat Md Kassim, the coach’s elder brother when contacted earlier today for an update about Poad’s condition.

Prior to this, doctors had to make the coach ‘rest’ with Poad being in a medically induced coma as he battles a chronic bacterial chest infection.

At present he has been placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Poad, who is married to Khalijah Ahmad and have seven children together aged between two to 13 year-old, is understood to have encountered health problems since early this month.

For the record, Puad is a teacher who hails from Chabau, Jasin in Melaka who holds a degree in physical education from the Open University of Malaysia (OUM).

Among the highlights of his coaching career is nurturing and developing Southeast Asia’s fastest man in Khairul Hafiz Jantan, who won the 100m gold at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games.
